Ultimately, I found the 220's to sound very similar to my Elac B5.2's (bass light and little forward) while the Dentons were kinda too bitting but had nice punchy bass (maybe like the Q100/150's bass but a bit deeper and punchier. I agree that the inset front baffle of the Dentons make them a nightmare to position and gives them a strangely piercing quality even though they are very well-extended and detailed up top. Alongside the 2.0 edition of the Debut series, Elac has also released a Debut Reference series, which consists of a bookshelf, the 6.2 Reference, a floorstander, the F5 REF and a center channel. I think the 225's might be better than either but I've never heard them. They seem more neutral where the Dentons did some weird stuff in the treble that I couldn't ever tame. I thought the 220's were actually better-balanced overall. If I were buying a Wharfedale today, I'd get the 225 (or 11.2's if they are similar as I think they look much better). If I had used them nearfield, I might have actually hated them lol. I don't know, I really wanted to like the Dentons but I didn't. I agree that the inset front baffle of the Dentons make them a nightmare to position and gives them a strangely piercing quality even though they are very well-extended and detailed up top. It had that kind of kick and power in my room. It reminded me of the ELAC B5's but much more articulate. But I really found the Denton bass extension to be exceptional. Something about that bottom-slotted port just didn't fill my room at all. At only about 7 wide by 13 tall and 9 deep, it is considered a bookshelf speaker, although it would also work on a speaker stand. The new B5.2 is the smallest speaker in the lineup, yet it packs an amazing amount of sound into a cabinet that can disappear on most shelves. Speaking of dimensions, ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 are 14.76-inches high, 7.69-inches wide, while their depth is 10.55 inches.

Many reviewers, us included, think that the improvements make ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 a much more elegant set of speakers than the previous version. They seem more neutral where the Dentons did some weird stuff in the treble that I couldn't ever tame. Debut 2.0 B5.2 Bookshelf Speakers - 249.98/pair. The new speakers are also much taller and slimmer than the old ones. Speaker buyers looking for maximum value should to consider the cheaper Elac models first, particularly the Debut 2.0, the Elac Debut Reference is a charming speaker which will slot in readily into most stereo or AV systems.Click to expand.Positioning is so important. While it's not the best with slamming rock or dance, it offers folk and jazz fans a sweet-natured performance. The Elac Debut Reference DBR62 is a refined speaker with elegant cosmetics and a winning sound. Q Acoustics is a home theater speaker, however, and Spiderman 3 imbues it with plenty of excitement. More importantly, the dialogue and effects were a little harsher sounding.

The 3030i didn't blend as well with the rears and there seemed to be a disconnect between the front of the room and the back. Though I manually calibrated the speakers each time, the results weren't quite as magical with the Q Acoustics. In Spider-man 3, as Peter Parker bursts through an office building window, there was a tremendous synergy with the Elac - as the whole room seemed to twinkle with shattered glass.

Finally, I turned to home cinema where the Elac slipped comfortably into my Frankenstein home system consisting of a Canton sub, Klipsch Atmos speakers, and SVS rears.
